Enter stake, odds and dead heat details
The winning fraction is based on places available divided by tied participants.
Half of the stake is settled as winning in this example.
Dead heat formula
In a simplified dead heat calculation, part of the stake is treated as winning and the rest is treated as losing.
Winning fraction = places available / tied participants
Winning stake portion = stake x winning fraction
Losing stake portion = stake - winning stake portion
Adjusted return = winning stake portion x decimal odds
Adjusted profit/loss = adjusted return - stake
Equivalent adjusted odds = adjusted return / stake
Worked example
If you stake £10 at decimal odds of 5.00 and two participants dead heat for one place, half the stake is treated as winning. The winning portion is £5 and the losing portion is £5. The adjusted return is £25, so the adjusted profit is £15.
